LeHunt, Kansas Ghost Town

History:  The ghost town of LeHunt is located outside of Independence, Kansas.  The town once thrived under the productivity of the United Kansas Portland Cement Company.  When the cement plant closed under the influence of the Great Depression, the town soon died.  All that remains of the plant today are several of the walls, the ovens, and the giant smokestack, which towers over the growth of foliage that now encompasses the town.  According to legend, the old site of the cement plant is haunted by the ghost of a worker who fell into a vat of concrete.  His body was never recovered.
